STW Thesaurus for Economics

General overhaul and relaunch (v 8.06 to v 9.0)

The STW Thesaurus for Economics has been developed in the 1990s and regularly updated. In recent decades, economic science and the economic and financial systems have evolved; new topics are brought to the fore. For these reasons, a comprehensive relaunch of the thesaurus has taken place in recent years. With version 9.0 the general overhaul of the thesaurus is completed. As the graphical overview of the different branches of the Thesaurus for Economics show the sub-thesaurus Business Economics has been expanded whereas the number of descriptors in the sub-thesaurus Economics has been reduced. The sub-thesauri Commodities and Economic Sectors were condensed. The statistical and mathematical methods were expanded and moved. They are no longer part of the sub-thesaurus Economics, but part of the sub-thesaurus Related Subject Areas. This way the different branches of the Thesaurus for Economics appear more balanced.
