ZBW is participating in the development of the national service centre for Diamond Open Access (SeDOA)

Under the direction of the University and State Library (ULB) Darmstadt, the development of a national service centre for Diamond Open Access in Germany – SeDOA for short – will start in January 2025. The project, funded by the DFG, aims to become a central national point of contact for publishing in the Diamond Open Access model. The national service centre is aimed at editors of Diamond Open Access publication initiatives, institutional publication services, professional associations and FIDs - across all subjects.

In addition to the ULB Darmstadt, 15 other institutions are involved, including the ZBW – Leibniz Information Centre for Economics. Within SeDOA, the ZBW is responsible for setting up community support services. Based on an initial needs assessment, these community support services will include consulting services, workshops and a knowledge base. In addition, legal opinions on key issues are to be obtained.

SeDOA will offer publication services, consultations and training, establish a registry for journals and promote new developments in the field of open access with an innovation lab. As a Diamond Capacity Centre, the service centre will be part of a European network and strengthen international cooperation.

Further information on the project and the participating institutions is available on the project website.
